A historic grouping to a China Marine who was ordered to surrender on April 6, 1942 on Corregidor Island.
The centerpiece of this lot is a letter he wrote home in January 1945 from the Osaka, Japan POW Camp. The letter is written on POW specific stationary provided by the Japanese.
The original envelope is also POW-specific Japanese issue. The short, hopeful, letter finally arrived home but months after the war had ended.
Also included are the following:
1. A 1940 4th Marines, Shanghai published magazine called Walla Walla;
2. Two April 1942 Life magazines detailing the fighting in Manilla and Corregidor;
3. A pre WW2 USMC Eagle Globe & Anchor;
4. A WW2 USMC Corporal summer wool Chevron (he was promoted as a POW);
