WW2 Japanese Type 26 Revolver Tank Crew Holster with Shoulder Strap

This is the standard Japanese World War II 9mm Type 26 revolver holster.

What makes this one very special as it has its’ original shoulder strap.

Shoulder straps were generally cut when the holster was removed from KIA’s. 

As a result, very few holsters whether Nambu, Type 94, or Type 26 have shoulder straps. For every 40 or 50 holsters, one might have a shoulder strap. 

This holster and shoulder strap have brass hardware for the buckle, D rings & retention stud. 

There are faint markings under the flap, they appear to be stamps into the leather rather than in stamps.

The cleaning rod slot has been worn through. This is consistent with a soldier repeatedly leaning against something vibrating such as inside a tank.

There are many other possibilities as to how the wear pattern developed but this is what first comes to mind.
