This is the first for us! This is a group of four items named to the same Japanese soldier, Matsuda Ite.
The most significant item is a paper envelope with his name, Matsuda Ite, on one side while the opposite side says “final hair.” It contains hair and is sealed. Japanese soldiers who were about to enter combat would cut some of their hair and/or fingernails and put it in envelopes to send to their family. This was done in case the soldier were to fall in battle and his body were not recoverable or could not be sent home. The family would, at least, have something to have a memorial service with.
The white booklet says “combat training” on the cover. It is named to the same soldier.
The fold out document could be his will, but we have not spent any time trying to translate. It is named to the same soldier.
The final item with his name on it is the soldiers issue personal effects bag. It is named to the same soldier.
This is an incredible grouping of Japanese military items with four pieces being named to the same soldier.
