This is an incredible piece of WW2 history with Japanese signatures of well wishers painted with a brush on the silk flag.

This one also has two shrine stamps.

These are considered very spiritual and were done by friends and family for soldiers and sailors going off to war to protect the bearer and remind him of home, family, his duty to the country etc.

They were carried folded under the helmet, in the tunic or haversack.  They were also tied to the rifle, its sling or bayonet in a Banzai charge.

The corner ties are as present.
