Here is a pre-World War II, Japanese leather Type 30 bayonet frog.

As you can see, the rivets are made of brass. Also notice the scabbard retention strap has only two holes in it.

According to Japanese World War II military records, in March 1940 the Japanese stopped using brass for rivets on bayonet frogs.

Then, in May 1943, they lengthened the retention strap for the bayonet scabbard and added one additional hole.

This frog has all the features of one made prior to March 1940.
