In 1944, due to shortages of steel, the Imperial Japanese Navy Technical Bureau developed a design for a cheap, easy-to-make hand grenade made of ceramic or porcelain materials. This was called the Type 4 hand grenade.

These were actually documented as having been used on Leyte, Iwo Jima & Okinawa.

They were either white or brown.

This is inert.
