This is a rare pre war Petty Officer, one stripe, white summer cap with detachable chinstrap.

The anchor was either wool thread and eaten by moths or was cotton thread and purposely removed. The outline is clearly visible.

If one had the desire, a steady hand and a fine tip pen, arguably a new black anchor could be added with ink.

A good dry cleaning would also help bring the cap back if one desired to.

The label is dated Showa 14 which is 1939. The label indicates it was  made a the Yokosuka Naval Uniform Depot.
