In 50 years, we have only seen two of these Navy made WOOL tunics. These are not well documented. Likely made for wear on Iwo Jima, where it gets cold in the winter, as well as China.
Standard Naval Clothing Depot label with Showa 19 date (1944). Note: Army wool tunics are marked very differently on the inside left of the tunic.
Profuse Kanji 佐志水 (Sashimizu) 66410 and named to 高松兼古 Kaneko Takamatsu.
Evidence of having had a bayonet hanger on the left hip; plus obvious wear from a pack and rear ammunition pouch.
This tunic interor is lined in white canvas with green cotton twill interior edging as shown.
One button fell off during photography. It was placed in the pocket.
