This is Naval Depot made haversack carried by officers and sailors during land operations.
Officers wore these on their right side; sailors and petty officers wore them on their left side.
The dark green, loosely woven, cotton, fabric, along with the leather straps and buckles, make this uniquely naval landing force.
As with many Japanese naval items, accountability was very important. As such, Japanese Navy items tend to have unit marks and numbers such as this one.  As you can see, this one has the numeral 133 printed on the outside of the flap.
These are actually a very uncommon.
Canteens used by the naval landing force are much easier to find, In spite of the fact that officers enlisted men had a canteen and one of these Habersacks. The ratio is about 40 to 1.
