Here is a pre-World War II, Japanese leather Type 30 bayonet frog.

According to Japanese World War II military records, in March, 1940, the Japanese stopped using brass for rivets on bayonet frogs. They switched to steel.

Then, in May 1943, they lengthened the retention strap for the bayonet scabbard and added one additional hole.

This frog has all the features of one made after May 1940.
