We have not seen a manual like this before.
It was published for the Army Infantry Training School in 1937.
It fully describes combat deployment of platoon size units including range fans for various weapons.
Offensive and Defensive doctrine is included.
This manual shows how to employ rifles, machine guns, the knee mortar.
There are a 12 pull out pages illustrating platoon tactics.
We suspect these would be used to train future infantry platoon leaders and possibly non-commissioned officers subject to promotion to platoon leader. Keep in mind Japanese doctrine allowed sergeants to command platoons as the pool of commissioned officers coming from the academy and reserve officer training did not keep up with the demand for qualified platoon commanders.
