This is an uncommon, improved, Japanese World War II army winter hat. The improvement is that it has a face shield it buttons into the hat.

these were worn during the illusion campaign, as well as in China And Manchuriaduring the cold, bitter winter months there.

This hat is marked size medium and is dated Showa 17, which is 1943.

The fur does not fall out when you touch it. There is an old repair on one side, which does not detract much from the overall appearance of this uncommon hat.
