This is a unique helmet in the that wearer removed the standard yellow enlisted BEVO star and added a high quality bullion officer’s cap star to the front of the helmet. This one is dated 1943. It is not misshapen as most are. The suspension inside could be loosened so that it could be used as a cover for the Steel helmet. This would have provided a bit of insulation from the Tropical sun.
