WW2 Japanese Army Officer Hat

Japanese Army Officers were given an allowance to purchase all their headgear and uniforms. These garments were manufactured to Army specifications by many uniform supply companies. These companies were subject to shortages as the war progressed such that quality of materials suffered as much as the Army run Clothing Depots

Hats like these were a bit taller but seldom bore other than size markings.

The star on officer’s caps were sewn onto a pentagon or circle of wool, as here, rather than a star sewn directly to the cap.
