This is probably the saltiest World War II Japanese field cap we have seen.
The markings on the inside have long washed away.
The chin strap is a replacement hand sewn onto the cap during the war.
Wear and use is visible with one tear in the wool on the side of the cap as shown. This could be easily hand stitched together.
The leather sweat band and full cotton mesh lining  are intact.
