WW2 Japanese Army Aleutian Campaign China Winter Ensemble Complete Unissued w Photo

Here is a complete, ready to display, WW2 Japanese Army Enlisted Winter Uniform ensemble issued in the Alaska, Aleutian Island Campaign and the China Campaign. 

Included are the following:

• Wool & Fur Hat Unissued
• Wool Type 98 Tunic Excellent Plus 
• Wool Type 98 Trousers Unissued
• Wool Type 98 Overcoat Unissued
• Cotton & Fur Type 96 Double breasted Overcoat with Fur Collar Unissued
• 3/4 Length Over-trousers with fur lining Unissued
• Winter Boots Fur Lined Unissued

These pieces have fantastic Japanese markings as you can see.

We see no moth damage.

Everything appears in new old stock, unissued condition except for the wool tunic which is in great shape.

The Japanese occupied the Aleutians Islands for 14 months in 1942 to 1943. Their campaign spanned all four seasons.

Wool uniforms were required for survival for at least three of these seasons with the overcoat being worn in the Fall & Spring & the Winter double breasted over coat & cold weather trousers being worn all Winter, late Fall & early Spring. 

Anyone who has ever served in the military in extreme cold weather understands the need to layer their clothing as necessary. A soldier who becomes a cold weather casualty becomes unable to perform his duty. This fact was not lost on the Imperial Japanese Army in the Aleutian Campaign.

This uniform ensemble was adapted over many long cold winters fighting in China and was state-of-the-art when Japan invaded Alaska as a feint for their thwarted invasion of Midway.

When the campaign ended,  the Japanese had lost 4,350 men.
