These were issued to all German recruits by various training commands. They bear the roster number for individual recruits and commands’ identifiers. Occasionally they note blood type.

When a German was killed the disc was broken in half. One half was to be left with the body; the other was kept by the unit.

The L and Sch Btl are believed to be issued to a Luftwaffe recruit.
