Ho Chi Minh sandals were made using bias ply rubber tires as the sole and cut inner tubes for the straps. They were worn by the NVA when their issues sneakers wore out and by communists it the North and South.
A good pair of captured sandals will have lots of wear on the soles, especially wear on the softer rubber inner tubing that sticks out of the bottom.
