Viet Cong Main Force Green Uniform Set

This is a hard to find VC Main Force uniform.

It is made from lightweight cotton using locally available brown plastic buttons.

As you can see, it is cut like the North Vietnamese Army uniform worn by their Northern Cousins.

SHIRT

Stand and fall rolled collar;
Two pleated chest pockets;
Scalloped pocket flaps;
Darts along the rear shoulder seam;
Shoulder yoke;
Pleated cuffs at the wrist;
Detailed ends on the wrist pleats;
Buttons are all the same size, have raised edges and are convex.

TROUSERS

Pleated front;
Two inward hanging slash pockets on the trousers;
Button and Loops for blousing at the cuffs;
Three buttons at the inner upper waist;
Single button rear pocket on the right hip;
Darts on the rear hip;

As Main Force units expanded, they began to receive reinforcements who were NVA Regulars. After the Tet Offensive of 1968, most VCMF units were in great need of manpower due to their destruction or near destruction.

This green color would have been worn from 1965 until the US withdrew in early 1973.
