This is the standard North Vietnamese Army & Viet Cong  issue short stick hand grenade pouch. The body and strap are made from loosely woven cotton with a galvanized wire buckle.

As you can see, this one is named on the front to an NVA soldier surnamed trần, first name lợi.

He was from Phú Khánh, a province just north and west of Hanoi.
