In the North all able bodies men and women were required to perform militia duty.

They often wore their civilian clothing, much of it made in the PRC and were distinguished by wearing either a sun helmet or a Mao style cap.

This is an unmarked PRC made cap supplied by Hanoi. There are no markings as you would find in a cap for issue to the Chinese PLA.

This cap also has a nice metal wartime militia badge on the front.
