This is a letter captured from an NVA soldier. It was written on April 12, 1965 and sent from Hanoi two days later. It was written a month after Operation Rolling Thunder commenced.
It obviously had special meaning to the NVA soldier who wrote it So much so, that he carried it with him all the way down the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Perhaps it is a letter from friends or family before he shipped off for training
Finding loose letters and envelopes is very rare. Finding the letter in an envelope is a coup!
Like all things of potential intelligence value, they had to be turned in to S-2 (Intelligence) for exploitation.
This material is highly interesting and makes for a great personal effects display, so pick out a few pieces while it is still available.
