This is an 8 page letter captured from an NVA soldier. It was written or sent from Hanoi in August 1965 a few months after Operation Rolling Thunder commenced.
It obviously had some special meaning to the NVA soldier. So much so, that he carried it with him all the way down the Ho Chi Minh trail. Some grunt found it on him and thought it was significant enough to take it away.
Finding loose letters and envelopes is very rare. Finding the letter in an envelope is a coup!
Like all things of potential intelligence value, they had to be turned in to S-2 (Intelligence) for exploitation.
This material is highly interesting and makes for a great personal effects display, so pick out a few pieces while it is still available.
