Here is a Korean War Chinese issue canteen. The body of the canteen is copied after the Japanese World War II Type 95 canteen.
The harness is made from cotton webbing. This cotton web material is fairly thin as are the thin, stamped, aluminum buckles.
These were also used by the Viet Minh, Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army.
