Iraqi Unit Marked AKM Bayonet

We acquired a few Iraqi issue AKM bayonets.

These are each unit marked with a three digit Arabic number painted on the scabbard.

This number is a rack number. These numbers were painted on each AK and each bayonet so they could be put back in a wooden rack in numerical order in the arms room. The serial number on the scabbard matches the serial number on the bayonet. When the last solider in line had turned in his weapon, it was very easy to see which bayonet or AK had not been turned in using this simple numbering system. The missing bayonet or rifle could be easily tracked to the solider to whom it was issued.

These are Romanian made which was one of the least expensive AKs on the world market. The Romanian AK was used extensively by Iraq in Desert Storm and OIF.
