This is the Chinese Model 1950 entrenching tool. This was first used during the Korean war by the Chinese People’s Volunteers.
This was also the standard entrenching tool issued to all southbound North Vietnamese Army soldiers.
Note the wood knob at the end of the handle. This is the characteristic of the Model 1950 entrenching tool. Later entrenching tools handles’ had a similar blade but had a pointed, torpedo-shaped, tip, without a knob. Later versions also had a triangular maker’s mark and/or year of manufacture stamped into the steel shaft.
The steel blade is firmly attached to the hardwood handle.
