This is a rare Soviet made EXPORT tropical, hot weather, boonie hat.
By export we mean there are zero Soviet markings.
Also, the chinstrap buttons are plain green vs the Soviet issue hammer and suckle buttons.
These were exported all over the world to Soviet client states in hot or tropical climates. The Cubans and Grenada’s People’s Revolutionary Army (PRA) wore these as did the Nicarguan Sandanistas.
The only marking is 55 stamped inside. This is equivalent to size 6 7/8.
