As in all militaries, Japanese Navy officers were not issued their uniforms.  Instead, they received a stipend in their pay for uniforms.

As such, various uniform manufacturers mass produced uniforms to naval specifications. These were sold via mail, on bases, as well as uniform supply stores off base.

Here is an example of an unwashed, unworn, deadstock, uniform made by the supply company noted in the inside neck area. Note: issue uniforms for ordinary sailors and petty officers were made at various Naval clothing depots and were marked in the lower left of the tunic with a sewn in label, up to early 1944, or a black ink stamp.

Regardless of rank, the cut of all Naval uniforms for land based units was the same.

This uniform is a later war 1944 to 1945 cotton with anchor buttons on the tunic and wooden buttons (loose) on the trousers.

The rank is that of ensign, a platoon leader in the NLF.

This is a. unwashed, unworn, deadstock uniform. The lower, right, interior, seam of the tunic still has a PAPER label sewn in.  This appears to be an inspection tag to be removed by the buyer.

The tunic measures about 40 inches around the chest , under the arms.  The matching trousers have a 34 inch waist and a 29 inch inseam.
