This is a North Vietnamese army regular who sat for studio photograph before heading South. This was likely the last photo taken of him.
He is wearing the standard uniform with his sum helmet on his side.
You will note that he is not wearing any insignia on his collars or on his sun helmet. When North Vietnamese soldiers headed south, they were required to leave their collar tabs and insignia behind because, after all, they were volunteers.
This is a wallet sized photograph with a blank reverse side.
