This style of cap predates the M43 cap. It is very rare.
These were worn in Africa, Italy and other tropical places by Luftwaffe personnel such a paras, FLAK crews, aviators, air field and security personnel.
As is correct for an original cap, the insignia was sewn on and the eagle attached to the cap BEFORE the lining was sewn in.
Rayon lining with HOLTZ maker marks. About size 7 1/4.
