WW2 Japanese Rubberized Canvas Rifle Belt Rig with Ammunition Pouches & Type 30 Bayonet Frog

This is a belt set worn by a World War II Japanese Soldier or Sailor while armed with the Arisaka rifle and Type 30 bayonet.

This belt rig is correct for any WW2 Japanese Type 38 or Type 99 series.

As shown, this lot includes a pair of frontal ammo pouches, a rear ammo pouch, a bayonet frog and a belt. If you do not have one, we have a wide selection of Japanese Type 30 bayonets to finish off the rig.

Rubberized canvas, three layers of canvas bonded by latex, was approved as a substitute for leather in 1938. The two primary Japanese contractors foresaw the coming embargo of favored cattle leather from the US. Production began almost immediately to fill orders needed for the army and navy.  Production continued into early 1945.

As most experienced collectors will tell you, finding a  WW2 Japanese or German rifleman’s belt rig that visually appears to have been worn together is extremely difficult these days.

Many collectors are forced to buy one pouch, one frog and one belt at a time. These people are continuously trading up until they end up with a matching rig for their display. It is a very expensive and time-consuming endeavor.

Here, the work is already done for you. You will save a great deal of time and money by buying a rig like this one versus continually buying, selling or trading up for items that do not quite match up.
