This is a World War II Japanese naval landing force officers sun helmet.

This sun helmet is complete with liner and chinstrap along with an officer’s quality navy landing force BEVO insignia, which was hand stitched to the front of the helmet during World War II.

The Kanji, opposite the insignia, is the Japanese word for “front.”

The sun helmet was originally the property of Peter Suici, the author of the book on military sun helmets. Peter told us this sun helmet was found at a yard sale by one of his pickers. At the time the helmet was purchased at the yard sale, the insignia was on the helmet as you see it now. Nothing was changed.  The family who sold it only knew that one of their relatives brought the helmet back from World War II. Upon request, a copy of this email from Peter will be made available to the buyer.
