Here is the standard World War II Japanese combat tunic. This tunic is known as type 98.
It was adopted in 1938 and became the standard tunic. This style of tunic was worn from the battle of Guadalcanal all the way through to the final battle on Okinawa.
This tunic is made from cotton twill. It has metal buttons, a stand& fall collar and four pockets.
Faint markings in the interior indicate Showa 17 (1943) date of manufacture.
As you can see this tunic has been there and done that. It has a great salty battlefield pick up look. It is not one of the many new old stock Japanese surplus tunics taken during occupation that are so easily located.
This is the real deal for battlefield pick ups.
