The Luftwaffe maintained large units for defense of airfield, AAA 88mm Flak Units and performed a great deal of ground combat as the war progressed.

This is a very rare tropical painted buckle. Issued to the Luftwaffe Afrika Korps, Paratroopers and Ground Troops only

One prong is missing; the other is an old replacement.

In nearly 50 years the consignor has only found three original examples of this Luftwaffee tropical color scheme.
