This is an early Soviet made AK-47 and AKM pouch made in 1959. The Soviets exported their small arms including the AK-47 and AKM to Viet Nam, Cuba and Iraq. In 1960, the Soviets were making both the AK-47 and working on production of the AKM.

This is the first type of AKM pouch without the oil bottle pocket sewn under the flap. The small cylindrical pouch is for the tubular steel cleaning kit.
