Rare original photo, taken in Dresden on September 7, 1944, of General Lt Herman Meyer-Rabingen and a senior NCO whom has contemporaneously been awarded the Knight’s Cross.

Herman Meyer-Rabingen commanded the 197th and later the 159th Infantry Division.

Herman Meyer-Rabingen won the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross while commanding the 197th Division.

Two months after this photo was taken, the General Commanded the 159th Division during the final German Offensive in WW2, Operation Northwind, an operation launched to assist the Germans in the Battle of the Ardennes.
