This belt was introduced in the CPV as early as 1952 based on one dated example we have seen.

This particular belt likely is ealier than 1952.

Although is looks like the later 1960s belts made for Hanoi, this belt has a thinner, undated, stamped brass buckle and galvanized adjuster. The buckle is riveted onto the web, not sewn like later 1960s copies made for Hanoi. The buckle is also about 25% larger than the later buckles and the web is about 15% narrower than the 1960s, made for Hanoi belts.

This was also issued to the Viet Minh and worn by the early NVA.
