This is a really nice grouping consisting of a captured NVA 3rd Model cardboard sun helmet captured by Petty Officer 1st Class (E6) Robert Allen Wahl while serving as a Combat Cameraman in 1968 -1969.
The lot includes everything shown including his leather name patch, his beautiful bullion and cloth PO1 rates for a combat cameraman; his navy aircrew buckle; his Pacific Fleet Combat Camera Group sticker; his COMBATCAMGRUPAC embroidered cloth shoulder arc; his dog tag; a PAC FLT COMBAT CAMERA GROUP film roll card; his Tan Son Nhut Mess Hall Pass issued in Jan 68; a squadron patch from RVAH-11 a Navy Attack Squadron and a copy of his citation for the Air Medal (1st Strike/Flight Award).
The primary value is in the NVA sun helmet he enscribed HO CHI WAHL but the value of the other USN items takes this lot over the top.
Research conducted thus far shows Wahl also received the Navy Achievement Medal (With Combat V for Valor) and became a Warrant Officer in June 1972.
