The NVA infantry used steel helmets fairly often.
They came from Russia, Poland and Czechoslovakia primarily but also from East Germany, Hungary and Yugoslavia.
This one is Hungarian made. The Hungarians coped the Soviet M40 Helmet but used cloth instead of leather for the liner.
This helmet is named to the NVA soldier “Nguyen” inside. The rest appear to be a unit designation. The leather chinstrap is still supple.
