This is a well constructed NVA VC four cell hand grenade pouch. It had an adjustable shoulder strap with wire roller buckle and a long tie-tie to secure the handle of the grenade to the body. These were carried by Infantry troops and Sappers.
The strap was cut to reduce chaffing on the shoulder during the long trek from the North to the South.
