This is a very neat NVA helmet with lots of graffiti on the exterior. The Graffiti indicates it was “War Booty” Taken on September 6, 1969 by a member or the ARVN 4th Bn 9th Regiment out of Binh Long. It was captured at Xa Cat Plantation, Binh Long Province, RVN. This is about three miles south of An Loc. FSB Cassion VI was located here.
The area near and including the Xa Cat Plantation had been heavily contested during the Vietnam War as it included an important provincial road, QL13, used for resupply in the Province.
Earlier, on 10 December 1967, the NVA conducted a ground attack on FSB Cassion resulting in 143 NVA KIA by US Forces who then occupied the FSB at Xa Cat. The base was later turned over the ARVN.
