The Thunder Troops were the most elite of the Iraqi Army. They spearheaded all the major offensives. They wore pin on insignia or sewn on patches. Typical low quality Iraqi made.
Much Iraqi insignia had a clear coat over the top as does this one.
My guess is the color of the dragon represented particular Battalions in the Regiment.
