The CPV wore a variety of winter hats in the Korean War.

They were all cotton with padding inside for insulation.

The ear flaps and front flap, which was permanently sewn up, was either faux fur, or wool.  Officer’s could wear private purchase caps with real fur.

The fold down ear flaps were secured with a button, ether brass or plastic, or ties strings.

Some were marked inside with a stamp, others had sewn in labels and some had no markings.

Those that came out in later in the war had ear holes cut thruogh the flaps for better hearing.

This is one variation of the iconic CPV Korean War hat.

This is the last type of cap worn in the Korean War. It has no faux fur and incorporates a short front bill.
