Every Chinese soldier was issued a leather belt.  They held down the grenade pouch, canteen, musette bag and bandoleer.

Enlisted belt seem to have a single prong while officers were often wider with two prongs.  This feature, plus a pistol, tended to distinguish officers from enlisted in an army without formal symbols of rank.

There were a great many variants due to the many many factories that made them.
